The Joys of Chicken Keeping

For this Valentine week I am expressing my love of all things home and today it is my chickens.
I know you have all heard me before. Elaine loves her stupid chickens, but I do and if I can convince anyone else to get them I think you will love them too and experience the joys of chicken keeping like me. Truly one of the best pets ever.

Oh my dear chickens how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

I love you and your quirky chicken personalities. You make me laugh everyday and I never tire of watching you do your chicken stuff.

I love the way you are my little one's friends and how you are always so glad to see her. She is little and your are little and you get each other.

I LOVE your eggs. Period!!

I love you for letting me show you my chicken love and you tolerating me.

I love your gift of the best eggs ever and the yummy dishes I make with them. You can find some of my favorite egg recipes here.

If I could move to a farm and have a large flock I would but for now I love having my little flock out back. In fact days I know I am going to work in the coop I get giddy. Love any work outside but love my chicken girls so much. Happy Valentines Cupcake, Sunflower and Daisy.

  1. You love your chickens and your chickens love you :) I'm so glad you were able to get chickens again! BTW did I tell you I shut down my blog? It was just time for me, but I'll still have it sitting there so I can check in several times daily to still read my friends' blogs.

  2. 1. I love the face of the chicken in photo #2.

    2. I love the flip flops on your daughter - grab whatever is there.

It would be fun to have chickens, but also no space at our house.

    Happy Valentine's Day

  7. I LOVE how YOU LOVE your chickens. I used to be the "chicken girl" on our farm. I loved to go into the quiet coop and collect eggs...except under this one old biddy....lol I let her keep all her eggs! shhhhhhh--- xo Diana

  9. Elaine... I love your chickens, too. In Australia we call adult chickens.. chooks or fowls. To us chickens are the little fluffy babies. I grew up with backyard chooks and I love them. Sadly council won't allow us to keep them where I live.

  10. My feathery friends arrived yesterday! I'm in love with them already. I could have many (big hen house and meadow), but 7 chickens will do. :-)

    Chickens are the best!
