Sadly, our little Pip did not make it. He had a nasty parasite and though we thought that was all, he never started eating again and his tummy started swelling and today I noticed it was worse. I took him back into the vet for the fourth time and they did a quick sonogram and confirmed fluid was all the way up around his heart but most important, he was clearly suffering. I made the decision with the vet that euthanization was necessary right away.
We all our very sad and it was torture to tell my youngest but thanks for all your kind words and support. When you choose to have pets, you receive great joy but also must suffer when you loose them. We have had this twice in one year so we will lick our wounds today and carry on. I am sure another puppy will find its way home with us but probably after the holidays.
Oh, I'm so sorry, Elaine! And poor little Q! She must be devastated.

Am so sorry to hear this.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this news Elaine. At least you gave the sweet little thing the best care you could and love till the end. You are so right about the pain of loving our furry one's, but the Joy outweighs that I hope.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Linda
I'm so sorry to hear this. It is so heartbreaking. They make a mark on our hearts so quickly, don't they? xo
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to have to say goodbye...my heart breaks for all of you.

I'm so sorry. He looked like such a cutie-pie. Life and death, a great lesson for one to learn no matter what age. Lots of hugs and prayers being sent your way! -Bev
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry Elaine. It just doesn't seem fair. Hoping that you find the perfect puppy for your family, when the time is right.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs,
Kris
... so sorry to hear this ... sending Hugs to you and your family... xxxx Barb xxx
ReplyDeleteWe have just lost our two older dogs within the last 2 months. One was 9 and the other 15 and needless to say I know the pain you are feeling. We went to the SPCA and found the perfect furry family member a couple of weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss, we lost ours the end of September and plan on getting a rescue dog after the Holiday's!!! It is hard to lose a member of the family and especially for your little one. Hugs from our home to yours. Sandy in Ca
ReplyDeleteI am so very, very sorry. Heartbreaking.

How very sad. You are right. Pets bring us sooo much joy. All of my babies are now away at a university or married now. No grandbabies yet and my little pets bring me joy. They become part of the family even when they come for only a short time. What a precious little one you had.

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. It is so hard to lose a pet, especially for a little child, who doesn't understand why these things happen.

So sorry Elaine! It's always hard to lose a pet no matter how long you've known them... It's happened to us in the past. :(
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Leslie
I am so sorry for your loss! I am especially sorry for your sweet little girl. This must be devastating for her! They become part of our family in such a short time. Give your little girl, you and the rest of the family a big hug from me.
ReplyDeleteOh dear...I just saw this and I am so sorry. Yes, every time we bring another one into our lives we set ourselves up for heartache someday. It's just usually a lot further down the road. I'm so sorry this didn't have another ending. When I lose one I always console myself with the knowledge that there are many homeless animals looking for forever homes. At some time you might want to consider honoring Pip's memory by saving another one. You'll know when the time is right.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry abut your little Pip!! It IS difficult but you were very responsible!! God bless you and your family!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you lost Pip. He looked like such a sweetie. I know it's torture to do that, I had to a few weeks ago. But it will get better. A new puppy will not replace him but I think will help you. We've already gotten a new puppy and it has helped us. You will always remember the sweet memories of the one you lost. That will help. Good luck to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for all of you, Elaine. So sad about that precious little pup.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for you and your family.
