Vintage Kitchen Decor

We have a vintage 1958 kitchen so finding fun vintage kitchen decor is always top of mind. This blue vase has been in this house for decades so we mixed it up with some polka dots and cherries for vintage decorating fun.

While wiping the kitchen down and playing around with my shelf when I put everything back, I decided all the pokie dotted things needed to live together.

My kids and their friends are making fun of my funny blue vase but I think she looks good up there by the little pitcher.

What is it about dots? I love them. But I love a lot of stuff and that my friends can be a problem.

Farmhouse Valentine Kitchen Decor

I wasn't quite ready but hubby took down Christmas and went straight to Valentine Kitchen Decor arranging. He took our little tree in the fresh eggs daily bucket and turned it into a Valentine tree.

From farmhouse Valentine decor and a little prim Valentine our kitchen is so cozy. As always full credit goes to the hubby as he does all our decorating.

Our Valentine Kitchen

Hubby left all the black and white enamel in the kitchen and added touches of red and hearts that will be the perfect January to February decor.

This little shelf has a place in my heart and holds our main kitchen display area.

This is my mom's old cheese grater and I love to display it. I think it makes a nice prim or vintage Valentine statement.

A little rustic Christmas tree was tucked into our fresh eggs daily bucket. Some glass heart ornaments and other hearts add the finishing touches. The perfect farmhouse February decorating.
I can't wait to see what hubby has in store for spring.

My Prim Christmas Decor - Dry Sink Vignette

I am always torn between my love of vintage Christmas decor and decorating for Christmas with primitives. In the den we tucked all our prim goodies come along and see our prim Christmas decor -dry sink vignette. Of course all credit goes to Dean. He does all of our decorating. #deandecorates

How to Make Your Christmas Tree Fuller - Happy Blogmas, Dec. 3rd

Happy Blogmas. I decided I would try and blog each day of December starting this Monday. Just quick updates on the Merry Christmasing going on in our house. I am going to show how to make a cheap Christmas tree look fuller. Have a great Dec. 3rd everyone.

Had a busy weekend of finishing our Christmas tree. We took a very cheap sparse artificial tree and really dressed it up and all with ribbon we already had. The wide mesh red ribbon was the key to filling all the the center of the tree that you could see. The we added two more layers of ribbon and then some bulbs and wa-la! I think it came out lovely.

Our Thanksgiving Home Decor

In our home, many of you know hubby does the decorating and this year I want to share our Thanksgiving Home Decor. Hubby is very strict no Christmas until after Thanksgiving.

A mix of country prim Thanksgiving decorations set our home for the holiday. I hope you enjoy Dean's Thanksgiving decorations for this year.

This is my favorite Thanksgiving vignette and I added just a couple little items from a fall Hobby Lobby trip this year.
We love primitive decor and it mixes so well with fall decorating.

I collect a lot of Pilgrim couples and they get tucked in all over the house.

Farmhouse Fall In The Kitchen

Dean decorated the kitchen in a farmhouse fall decor theme and I think it turned out lovely and wanted to share. It is light and bright and will switch over to Thanksgiving decor easily.

Black and white enamelware is always in our kitchen so we added the little gingham pumpkins with some more prim pumpkins we already owned.

Sunflower Themed Party Ideas

This past week our we hosted our daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner. We, Dean and I, went with a sunflower themed party idea with black and white check table linens. Perfect idea for a June wedding with the rehearsal dinner in our back garden.

sunflower wedding decorating ideas

When my husband and I were gathering our sunflower wedding decorating ideas we wanted to save money as always and chose to use our collection of black and white enamelware. You can see we even used our wall hanging enamel flower market container. Jars were inserted to hold the mix of sunflowers and zinnias from our garden.

I used white table linens I already had and ordered the black and white check table runners from Amazon and a pack of black and white check napkins. It was very inexpensive to use these to bring in the checks we wanted.

I knew I wanted sunflower cupcakes for the dessert table and found a friend who is a talented baker and hired her to make them. They really were cute and set off the sunflower themed dessert table.

We rented white chairs and filled all of our mason jars with sunflowers for table centerpieces with sunflowers. Along with yellow napkins from the dollar store, we had very frugal sunflower centerpieces for parties or wedding receptions.

Gathering Items For A Tea Party Themed Bridal Shower

My daughter's bridal shower is fast approaching and we decided on a Tea Party theme for her shower. I thought it might be fun to share with you some of our ideas and how we are going to set up and decorate for her shower.

Items For A Tea Party Shower

I inherited a lot of china tea cups. Those are the inspiration for our tea party decor. I decided on  floral and floral fabric decor. Every frugal we are using a lot of what we have and will fill tea pots with fresh flowers and outdoors we are filling all of my galvanized water cans with loads of fresh flowers.

Because it will be warm, we will probably stay mostly indoors but the patio and garden are ready for the party loaded with blooms. You can watch a video of the garden on our Facebook page here.

The tea pots will be filled with flowers as centerpieces and I will gather all my linens, some of which I was given as wedding gifts. Stay tuned as I will post the final shower pics and show you how it came out.

A Quick Visit To Shelly's Bliss Cottage

As always one of my highlights of the holiday season is a visit to Shelly's vintage Christmas cottage. I apologize that I did not take more pics of her cute vintage holiday decor but we were talking and sippin' coffee and time got away from me but it is too cute not to share even after Christmas. I visit every year and you can see part one of last year's vintage holiday home tour.

Vintage Christmas Cottage

Her tiered tray is filled with darling Christmas cups. So cute with those vintage deer cups. Have you ever seen those?

This was my favorite corner and her husband was the inspiration for the little tree in the corner and it nestled in the red enamel pot set on the old red vintage stool is just perfect.

Her jadeite collection is huge and just a bit of it is on this cute red kitchen cart. I wish I would have taken more pictures of it.

How cute is this Christmas doily valance? Retro red and green canisters and kitchen items top her darling shelf. Make sure to click here  see all of her Christmas home tours as she changes it all up every Christmas.

This pic I stole off of Shelly's instagram. Her sweet vintage red and green Christmas bedroom is so adorable I had to share. Hop on over and follow her on instagram as she does not have a blog but posts pictures of her decor and antique booth regularly.

Primitive Fall Decorating Ideas - Crocks and Stacking Boxes - Fall Home Tour 2017

There are too many bits a things to show in one post so I will break down fall home tour 2017. Today I will share some Primitive Fall Decorating Ideas - Crocks and Stacking Boxes. As always all decorating is done by my husband so I should give him full credit.

hanging chair, fall sign, prim crow

I have had this little happy fall sign for years. Hubby has hung it on a crock stuffed with fall picks and his signature black crow. He loves prim black crows.

country tin bucket, pumpkin decor

This farm scene metal bucket is new this year. I love how he piled a small collection of fall cuties to create a charming fall vignette.

sunflower wood sign, hanging crock, autumn sign

This fall corner is one of my favorites and as I took this shots at night, I love the punched tin prim star lamp and how it glows on the metal stars on the wall. Hubby is so funny. He tweaks all through the season moving things around until he is happy.

ghost light bulb

This little prim candle stick lamp is old but I found a ghost light bulb to dress it up for a Halloween vignette. You can find the bulb here.

stacking prim boxes, black crow decor

Stacking boxes are the hallmark of primitive decor and I always buy a set every year or two. I don't know why, but I love them.  Stay tuned, next I will share his fall kitchen decorating.
