Farmhouse Fall In The Kitchen

Dean decorated the kitchen in a farmhouse fall decor theme and I think it turned out lovely and wanted to share. It is light and bright and will switch over to Thanksgiving decor easily.

Farmhouse Fall Decor

Black and white enamelware is always in our kitchen so we added the little gingham pumpkins with some more prim pumpkins we already owned.

I hope you enjoyed our fall kitchen decorating this year. We have buttery yellow walls and the black and white enamelware stays up all year but the autumnal colors mixed well with what we already had. Stay tuned. Tomorrow we will share our rustic Halloween decor.

Happy Halloween From Sunny Simple Life 2017

Happy Halloween from my home to yours. We went to a party Saturday night and I was a gothic witch and hubby was the dancing pumpkin meme guy.

We made these fun rice krispie treat monsters for the party. Came out so cute and easy too.

Rice Krispie Treat Monsters

For Halloween these rice krispie treat monsters are perfect. An easy variation on rice krispie treats make these perfect for a Halloween dessert but also any kids party.

The morning of our party I made up the rice krispie treats and then my husband and I later decorated them all up.

Rice Krispie Treat Monsters

1. Make up a batch of rice krispie treats from the original recipe.

2. Pick up some Wilton melts in the colors of your choice. Orange, green and purple are perfect. Also, you will need a pack of the candy eye balls. I got all of mine at Walmart but you can order them too.

3. Once your rice krispie treats are prepared, cool them thoroughly. I pop in the fridge for about 20 minutes. Slice the treats in little rectangles.

4. Prepare several cookie sheets with wax paper. Get your Halloween sprinkles out.

5. Take your first color of melts and melt according to the package directions.

6. Start dipping and coating the ends with a rubber spatula. Place a pair of candy eyes and sprinkle the tops of the treats. Place on the cookie sheet. When you filled up a cookie sheet, slide it into the refrigerator to cool down and harden about 15 minutes.

7. Once fully set, arrange your spooky rice krispie treats in a fun Halloween container.

Halloween Vintage Kitchen Tour

Our house is very busy this year so I told hubby to keep Halloween decorating to a minimum and of course he never listens so I give you a Halloween vintage kitchen tour aka Dean's decorating for Halloween.

This little area all started with the cotton picks my husband picked up at a local shop. He knew he wanted them for fall. He is so funny. He tweaked his fall decor until he came up with this and I love the blue ball jars with the red touches and a few splashes of orange and black.

He decided for fall to pull one of my mom's recipe cards out of her recipe box. Of course I almost cried when I saw it. I love seeing that faded old piece of her with her hand writing in my kitchen. 

Just a mix of tins and Halloween baubles and it all works together.

The little kitchen shelf is Halloween ready and of course in my kitchen he hangs "The Witch Is In" sign. I don't know if he is telling me something or not. Lol!

Even the fall Pyrex got a Halloween touch.

Primitive Fall Decorating Ideas - Crocks and Stacking Boxes - Fall Home Tour 2017

There are too many bits a things to show in one post so I will break down fall home tour 2017. Today I will share some Primitive Fall Decorating Ideas - Crocks and Stacking Boxes. As always all decorating is done by my husband so I should give him full credit.

I have had this little happy fall sign for years. Hubby has hung it on a crock stuffed with fall picks and his signature black crow. He loves prim black crows. 

This farm scene metal bucket is new this year. I love how he piled a small collection of fall cuties to create a charming fall vignette.

This fall corner is one of my favorites and as I took this shots at night, I love the punched tin prim star lamp and how it glows on the metal stars on the wall. Hubby is so funny. He tweaks all through the season moving things around until he is happy.

This little prim candle stick lamp is old but I found a ghost light bulb to dress it up for a Halloween vignette. You can find the bulb here.

Stacking boxes are the hallmark of primitive decor and I always buy a set every year or two. I don't know why, but I love them.  Stay tuned, next I will share his fall kitchen decorating.

Halloween 2015

Halloween 2015 is in the books. No party for hubby and I so no usual costume pics this year. We did have friends come over for a grown up bonfire on Saturday night after everyone's kids we off for their activities. Look at his apple trifle my girlfriend brought. Isn't it beautiful??

 We all carve pumpkins every year so we got together on Thursday night to get them done. On Halloween our youngest was taken trick or treating by what I called her "entourage". Our 21 year old and friends all dressed up and took Q out and even through a haunted house that my little really wanted to try.

It was a fun weekend. Hubby and I took Q to IHOP for spooky pancakes. So fun. I often wonder if we didn't have a littler one what we would do. We would be missing out on all we get to do with her. So fun and such a good reason to keep all of our traditions continuing for all the girls and making so many more memories.

Spooky Apple Teeth Kid Craft

We recently finished an apple theme curriculum in our homeschool and celebrated by making some spooky apple teeth. Perfect for fall and Halloween, we enjoyed this easy fall food craft and yummy snack.

Directions:
1. All you need for this activity are some apples, peanut butter and some mini marshmallows.
2. Wash and dry your apples, cut the apple into large wedges scooping out the seeds.

3. Take each wedge and on the outside of the apple, cut a wedge lengthwise but make sure you don't cut     all the way through.
4. Now in the wedge, put some peanut butter and place the mini marshmallows in two rows, making           some nice pearly white giant teeth for your spooky mouth!

If you aren't going to enjoy right away, I would toss the cut apple slices in lemon juice so the apples don't turn brown.

Super Simple Fall Snack Mix

This sweet and salty super simple fall snack mix is so GOOD! And so easy. You will love how easy it is to make this 3 - ingredient fall snack mix.

No cooking, no oven, so measuring. Five minutes and you can begin to devour the goodness fall treat.

Super Simple Fall Snack Mix

Prep time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

1. One bag of Traditional Chex Snack Mix
2. One bag of Brach's Autumn Mix
3. A bag of pretzel sticks

In a large bowl, pour entire bags of Chex mix and autumn mix and two cups of pretzel sticks. Toss to mix and you are done. Store in a sealed container for freshness.

This is the perfect fall treat for movie night, Halloween, to give as gifts or hostess gifts.

Day of the Dead Party

This year, my sister in law's Halloween party was themed, Day of the Dead. She goes all out and decorates and does a great job of setting the stage for a great time. Here is her 2014 Day of the Dead Party...

She modified many pumpkins she had for the day of the dead party. Her and her friend made lots of custom banners and decorations.

 The Mexican paper flowers above the food table was awesome. I also loved the colorful pom pom garland.

My sister in law is on the left. She looked great. She works for months on her party and it really shows.

Hubby and I all set in our day of the dead makeup and costumes.

Dia de los Muertos Decor

Every year my husband's sister throws a big Halloween dance party. She works all year on the theme and decor. This year she moved it to Nov. 1st for Dia de los Muertos or day of the dead. I want to show you some pics of her decor. Tonight is the party so I will be back with our costumes and her house all set for the party.

Her and one of her good friend's have worked hours on custom banners, garlands and decor.

I just loved her day of the dead wreath for her front door.

All of her decor always has a royal theme. Love the crown on the gold skull. These centerpieces were done in upcycled tomato cans.
