Farmhouse Fall In The Kitchen

Dean decorated the kitchen in a farmhouse fall decor theme and I think it turned out lovely and wanted to share. It is light and bright and will switch over to Thanksgiving decor easily.

Black and white enamelware is always in our kitchen so we added the little gingham pumpkins with some more prim pumpkins we already owned.

I hope you enjoyed our fall kitchen decorating this year. We have buttery yellow walls and the black and white enamelware stays up all year but the autumnal colors mixed well with what we already had. Stay tuned. Tomorrow we will share our rustic Halloween decor.

Halloween Vintage Kitchen Tour

Our house is very busy this year so I told hubby to keep Halloween decorating to a minimum and of course he never listens so I give you a Halloween vintage kitchen tour aka Dean's decorating for Halloween.

vintage kitchen shelf, farmhouse kitchen decor

This little area all started with the cotton picks my husband picked up at a local shop. He knew he wanted them for fall. He is so funny. He tweaked his fall decor until he came up with this and I love the blue ball jars with the red touches and a few splashes of orange and black.

He decided for fall to pull one of my mom's recipe cards out of her recipe box. Of course I almost cried when I saw it. I love seeing that faded old piece of her with her hand writing in my kitchen.

Just a mix of tins and Halloween baubles and it all works together.

The little kitchen shelf is Halloween ready and of course in my kitchen he hangs "The Witch Is In" sign. I don't know if he is telling me something or not. Lol!

Even the fall Pyrex got a Halloween touch.

Here is my extent of the decorating...I turned the calendar to October.

Primitive Fall Decorating Ideas - Crocks and Stacking Boxes - Fall Home Tour 2017

There are too many bits a things to show in one post so I will break down fall home tour 2017. Today I will share some Primitive Fall Decorating Ideas - Crocks and Stacking Boxes. As always all decorating is done by my husband so I should give him full credit.

hanging chair, fall sign, prim crow

I have had this little happy fall sign for years. Hubby has hung it on a crock stuffed with fall picks and his signature black crow. He loves prim black crows.

country tin bucket, pumpkin decor

This farm scene metal bucket is new this year. I love how he piled a small collection of fall cuties to create a charming fall vignette.

This fall corner is one of my favorites and as I took this shots at night, I love the punched tin prim star lamp and how it glows on the metal stars on the wall. Hubby is so funny. He tweaks all through the season moving things around until he is happy.

ghost light bulb

This little prim candle stick lamp is old but I found a ghost light bulb to dress it up for a Halloween vignette. You can find the bulb here.

Stacking boxes are the hallmark of primitive decor and I always buy a set every year or two. I don't know why, but I love them.  Stay tuned, next I will share his fall kitchen decorating.

Thanksgiving Decorating Ideas and Thanksgiving Wishes

Wanted to share some Thanksgiving decorating ideas from the hubby. The man
never decorates for Thanksgiving or any holiday the same. But he says if you mix some chubby turkeys, a few pilgrims, fall pictures and lots of pumpkins you too have simple Thanksgiving decor down.

Here's my contribution. I turned the page on the calendar to November. Vintage Thanksgiving images are my favorite. By the way I tried the buttery mashed potato recipe on the Gooseberry Patch calendar, and they were so good.

My job around here is to compile the menu and ingredients for our meal.

Really though, if you just decorate your Thanksgiving table with a meal of turkey and the fixings, that is all that is needed to make a great holiday. Thanksgiving is about family, sharing a meal and most of all thankfulness. When we feel thankful and focus on our blessings than we are more content. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Spooky Apple Teeth Kid Craft

We recently finished an apple theme curriculum in our homeschool and celebrated by making some spooky apple teeth. Perfect for fall and Halloween, we enjoyed this easy fall food craft and yummy snack.

Directions:
1. All you need for this activity are some apples, peanut butter and some mini marshmallows.
2. Wash and dry your apples, cut the apple into large wedges scooping out the seeds.

3. Take each wedge and on the outside of the apple, cut a wedge lengthwise but make sure you don't cut     all the way through.
4. Now in the wedge, put some peanut butter and place the mini marshmallows in two rows, making           some nice pearly white giant teeth for your spooky mouth!

If you aren't going to enjoy right away, I would toss the cut apple slices in lemon juice so the apples don't turn brown.

Cozy Fall Feeling

Fall is my favorite time of year. We have the house decorated and the spicy apple scent of candles is in the air. Fall in southern California feels like summer and we still wear shorts but things begin to change.

Cooler evenings and the light changes hanging lower in the afternoons. The fall garden is changing. Summer crops come out and our cooler weather crops spring to life.

I love to cook this time of year more than any other. With cooling weather I turn my oven back on and enjoy baking and trying new recipes. I envy those wearing jackets and slippers as we are still warm but soon we will get cool temperatures and I think nothing makes a house cozy like a crisp day and the oven on with a delicous meal cooking inside.

I love the colors of fall. The warm hues just speak to me. Warm glow or orange and gold lights and fall decor is my favorite decorating theme of the year.

Fall Home Tour 2015

As usual Mr. Sunnysimplelife does the decorating around here so I am sharing his tweaking of the house for fall. I collect, he decorates, and always on a budget.

Our old tool caddy had sunflowers and flags for summer but he switched out the flags for some fall fixings we found at Walmart. Who would think Walmart fall decorating ideas??

I think we decorate in a fall farmhouse decor theme though we live in the city. Kind of country fall decor meets farmhouse.

Fall Farmhouse Kitchen Decorating Ideas

Hubby has been busy with his fall decorating 2015. Even though we are in the burbs our decor is more city farmhouse fall decor. In the kitchen we kept it easy with simple fall decor ideas.

These vintage inspired tins go well with the orange of the pumpkins. We look at magazines and get fall decorating ideas but mostly the hubby just keeps tweaking. Here is our simple fall decor in the kitchen.

My vintage coffee pot is a new favorite I picked up at a thrift store in Oregon.

We hit the fall decor at Walmart and picked up a $3 bag of fall pumpkin mix and stashed it in our little green window box.

My farmhouse fresh eggs box from a dear friend is perfect with the orange and green on my little vintage chair. Hubby tucked eggs and prim pumpkins in with some autumn picks of berries.
