My Prim Christmas Decor - Dry Sink Vignette

I am always torn between my love of vintage Christmas decor and decorating for Christmas with primitives. In the den we tucked all our prim goodies come along and see our prim Christmas decor -dry sink vignette. Of course all credit goes to Dean. He does all of our decorating. #deandecorates

We made orange pomanders and salt dough ornaments and tucked the extras in my yellow-ware bowls.

I have a thing for rustic and prim candy canes. Dean tucks them throughout the house.

Cherry

I tell you it is getting bad around here. I turn my head or go out the door and things get moved and rearranged while I am gone. I know why this is.

A certain someone doesn't want me to nose in on what he is doing. Could you live with this?

When I was younger, I was more of a control freak, but I have come to learn I am not really that good at arranging things and the Mr. is, so I tell him my idea and wham he just moves things. But he moves things when I have no clue either. This old wood box stood empty but when I came in from dropping one of the kids off, I found this cute vignette. The lineman tucked my old cherry pillow and found some pip berries and crocks to add. He never says anything but waits for me to discover what he has done. You know I have noticed the more stressed he is at work, the more he decorates at home. Must be relaxing to him. Would it bother you if your hubby decorated behind your back?

Winter Woodland Tree

Our main tree is in our front window but I like having a small tree in the den for the sparkly lights at night.
This year I decided to go with woodland theme. I used decorations I had and some little mittens I picked up cheaply.

The woodsy ornaments I have had for years. I thought the punch of red would really be perfect. I have my eye on some more ornaments I want for this tree from my favorite store. I will be in line the day after Christmas to buy them half off. I won't pay full price for ornaments. I just wait and buy them after the holiday.

What says winter more than red mittens. We don't wear them much here where I live but I sure love them.

A cozy Christmas corner. I have my coffee here sometimes and watch the chickens outside.

You can see how I did my den tree last year in a patriotic theme.

New Space for Me

I mentioned to hubby that it would be nice to have a little place for my laptop in the den and bam, he made it happen. He loves to move furniture. He gets that from his mom. We just moved the tables around in the den but what I love is that this little table was his grandma's. I love to use things that my family members have used for so long.

Grabbed on of my thrift store windsor chairs.

I love it. I can throw my camera up there while I am down here and not have it all over the couch.

And the best part is I can sit there and work and watch through the window, the chickies running around the backyard.

Little White Cupboard or Hiding and Outlet

Farmhouse decor, little white farmhouse cupboard with chicken wire for fall.

Farmhouse decor, farmhouse cupboard

We moved loads of things around this last weekend and I have been wanting something tall in this spot to hide a very hideous outlet that is about half way up the wall. The most inconvenient level to camouflage it.
Decided to move a little shelf from the kitchen out here.

Topped with my black can and lights that now conveniently have the plug right behind them. The plug is hidden from view now. They need women to decide where to place plugs when houses are built don't you agree?

My Cozy Spot

I had mentioned before we moved my red toile sofa down to the den. Our den is large so we have the wall space down here to accommodate it. We put it against a far wall near the French doors to the patio. I have to say I love this spot now. It gives us much more seating for when we have family over but its position next to my garden windows it what I love most. A cozy spot for reading or napping now too.

I think the eagle on the wall maybe needs a new home and something more charming needs to replace it. The little end table with some fall touches make the corner so warm now.

I have flowers and plants right outside the windows now. I can look up and see the sky and watch the rain fall when that day finally comes. I am ready for some rain.
